Zeus was brought up with honey by the Bee nymph.The father of medicine Hippocrates recommended it for the treatment of several diseases, and so did Aristotle who believed that honey prolongs life.
The Egyptians offered their gods honeycombs with honey as a valuable present showing devotion and gratitude. Cleopatra, the Egyprian queen, used honey for her face and body.
